Artist Influence – Sarah Barton

Sarah Barton is an 18 year old aspiring illustrator from Surrey. Currently studying A Level Fine Art and completing an Arts Award, she’s interested in exploring the link between lyrics and illustration while exploring areas such as life-drawing and photography, and hopes to study for a degree in Illustration.

It is Sarah’s interest in the relationship between art and words that I have taken inspiration from. I am interested in combining portraiture with words, and have asked Sarah to illustrate words that our friends used to describe her on separate pieces of card. I then plan to shoot images of her posing in relation to the word on the card she is holding up. This relates to my title ‘Individual Identity’ as Sarah will not only feature in the images with her artwork, but the words she will illustrate were chosen from her leaver’s book from when we left secondary school and so the adjectives will relate to her own personality.
